Suitable Drive away Awning for an Amethyst

Post by gordyjackson on Mon Jul 17, 2017 4:50 pm

Afternoon All,

I turn yet again to the trusted fellow Autosleeper owners for good sound advice!

I want to sell my big frame tent and invest in a proper driveway awning for my Autosleeper Amethyst.
I see a lot of the photos have VW campers in the advert and I wonder about the top of my door being at 2.4m high and it will need to open as well.

I see the Vango Airbeam ones look very good but has anyone here used one?
Also,  how do they attach?  so they use the Fiamma awning already there?
Let me know if you would

Many Thanks
Gordon

Just to add that I've indulged in a Vango Airbeam Galli Tall which is being shipped in the next few days.,    I'll try and add some useful comments on here in case anyone else is thinking?

I hope there are some replies to your question, gordy, as we are also thinking of the same thing for our Amethyst.

Evening all,
Just to say that I did indeed buy a Vango Galli Tall and took it away to Cornwall for a week in the wind and the rain otherwise know as the British Summer!   I can honestly report that all was excellent,  not a drop came in anywhere, nor was it a draughty flappy thing (and boy was it tested in the night!)  I thought it was easier to make a short video and upload it rather than wear my fingers out typing so I hope you find this useful.
Please feel free to ask any questions if you are thinking about one yourself.

A couple of things that I forgot to mention:
1.  there is a front facing door in the 'link'  that it is so useful as you can 'come and go' from the outside to the link,  kick off the dirty shoes and then enter either the motorhome or the awning from there in the dry.
2.  The other point that I forgot to mention is that of course this opens up options for us.   A Caravan Club site was out of the question and the same with many others as some don't allow tents and others won't allow us to have the motorhome and a tent on the same pitch whereas an awning is all fine!   I am now a member of the Caravan and Motorhome club and looking forward to those spotless toilet blocks once again!

Best Regards
Gordon
