Electric step Empty Electric step

Post by plato2012 Sun Jul 09, 2017 7:47 am

At the end of a six week trip where the step had worked perfectly well it would not retract when ready to depart for Calais. The motor sounds to be working perfectly but the step itself just swings about unless physically put into the in use position. Move it out of this position and it has no support at all and I had to bungee cord attach it to the chassis to travel home.
I can see nothing to indicate a missing bolt or other attachment, there is nothing obvious to indicate how the step connects to the motor.
Suggestions please.

It sounds like the shaft between the motor and the step has come has become disconnected , easy to spot if you have a look, also the plastic gears are prone to stripping in the motor .
I've recently replaced the motor on our step, not a difficult job.
The motor is made by Bosch and is can be easily obtained at a third of the price a dealer would charge.

Let me know if you need any further help

Thanks Boaby, I have seen rather a lot of Mark over the last 3 years and he certainly knows his stuff. I am going to have a closer look next week then Mark will be next on the agenda.

Thanks Chris. I need to take a closer look (but it is difficult for me to get down for a good view), The step and motor we replaced at the last service 11 months ago so I am hoping that the solution will be as straight forward as you suggest.
