Battery not charging on EHU

Post by rockside on Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:24 pm

Hi - I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem.

My battery has stopped charging on ehu. I've checked the fuse at the leisure battery and the relay at the main battery and they seem to be fine. Both batteries charge fully from the alternator. Have I missed anything obvious?
Also is it just the leisure battery that will charge from ehu or both? Sorry if this is basic stuff but its a mystery to me. Hope you can help

Not got the same van as you, but, is the trip switch tripped ? on the clubman we had, there used to be a switch for the charger (under the passenger seat in the clubman) my wife managed to turn it to the off position whilst dusting.
Just a thought.

On my Symphony (Peugeot Boxer) only the leisure battery is charged on EHU.

Hi there,

The Duetto has an "On/Off" in the cupboard under the oven where I used to keep the saucepans - until I turned the charger off a couple of times putting pans back!

"Seek and thou shalt find!"

Also, I think that as a general rule, the EHU only charges the domestic battery.

Best regards,

I'm still looking for an answer. And I've tried everything - except taking it to an auto electrician. The leisure battery charges - and keeps its charge when the engine is running. But on ehu it just refuses to charge. I've changed all the fuses and looked for hidden trip switches (which I havent found). I suspect the answer is so obvious but it escapes me.
I'll just have to take it to a garage and pay!

thanks for asking.

Mine is operated by a switch, located in a cupboard on the other side of the body to the EHU socket. Not the same van I know but have you checked in all the cupboards and hidyholes?

Maybe AS could help?

Rockside,
I'm sure you have checked this but I shall suggest it anyway. My charger has an on/off switch on the back of it an this is not visible fron the installed position. Mind you where my charger is fitted not a lot of it is visible.
Sorry if I have stated the obvious.

Hello rockside.
Don't know if yours is similar but my Topaz has a three position switch on the leisure battery control panel which also has water and battery levels. This allows EHU to charge Leisure battery (Hab) Vehicle battery (Veh) or neither when in the centre position.
