Flyscreen for sliding door

We have a 2016 Stanway - we love the open sliding door but know if we go abroad we will need a Mossi/fly screen here. Can't seem to source anyway that makes them and suspect they could be very expensive. Has anyone "made" something themselves that they could share?

I remain unconvinced - and worried that if we bought them they would end up in the loft, with all the other "must have" gadgets!!

I wonder if they would prove to be a counter productive nuisance, trapping the insects inside where they would lurk in readiness for when we go to bed?

Hmmmmmmm. In any case if I'm completely honest I think we would be too idle to slide the screen across every time we went in or out of the van.

Dave, you don't need to slide anything. Effectively two curtains that are held closed with light duty magnets.

Worth a go - if they don't work I'll cut them up, use them as fridge vent filters and post on that thread

We bought a bit of curtain net, some curtain weights and an extending curtain net pole. Only used it a few times but for the expense was worth it.

The extending net pole was useful for putting across the van to hang towels etc on to air when they couldn't be put outside as it was raining or we were going out for the day.

Very droll.  

The most effective means we've found of controlling the nasty little biting insects is to close up the van when you go inside for the night, and give it a good spray with insecticide. Go for a wee to avoid breathing it in, and when you return you will be relieved (Sorry!! ) to find the van insect free . . . well, no live ones anyway!!

We did have insect screens once on a caravan, but whatever we did they always got in during the day, and of course it was just as we were dropping off to sleep we would hear that ominous zzzzzzzzzz as one homed in for a quick meal.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. As it happens I had just bought 2 packs of the nets and was going to try something like that! Great minds think alike! Also didn't know you could get extending poles so I shall look out fir them too. Any idea where you got them from and also how did you attach pole to the van?

We got the pole from a local shop in our town. It is quite a tin metal pole that has a ratchet thin inside and if you have it the right way up it stays out but turn it over and you can collapse it.

The pole rests against a ledge above the sliding door - part of the Fiat not the conversion - and a cupboard on the opposite side if using to air towels where there is a bit of weight or just pushed against the cab overhead locker on one side and a kitchen locker on the other when using for the net.
