Fresh water drain tap Empty Fresh water drain tap

Post by seanroberts037 Mon Apr 24, 2017 4:38 pm

Hi All,

Just wondering where I can purchase a new fresh water drain tap for my brodway fb, i could book it into the service centre but they are so busy i may as well do it myself, it looks quite straight forward, i have a drip from it even whn it is fully in the off position, annoying as we only bought it in October last year.

Cheers

I had the same problem and replaced mine. Its easy enough to fit, but it only lasted a year before  starting to leak again! I just put up with the drip now!

Mine has been replaced several times for various reasons.

The first time was because it was dripping then the second tap started to drip so I Put a cork in it. Next time a the service centre the 3rd was fitted (all under warranty). I found the fitters had transferred the cork to the new tap; when questioning Mark on the subject he mentioned that road dirk getting in the tap causes the drip and that the cork prevented that happening - he was right, I keep a cork in it.

I wouldn't replace with a plastic angled valve.   A metal inline valve will be much better and will also allow quicker draining. Better dealers or online companies will be able to supply
A few years ago there were a number of threads on the subject which Dago one of our members who has a valve company offered advice

I'll post a picture later Sean, but the tap has a normal compression fitting one end, a short length of copper tubing is fitted (about 3"), and it's connect to the drain hose/tubing with a small hose clip.

Mines leaking from the tank connector.  I understand the tank has to be removed to gain access to the lock nut inside the tank?

It may turn out to need that but first, when you get home, I suggest you drain the tank, clear away all existing sealant, clean and then encapsulate the whole joint area on the outside with Sealfix (link above).

It is truly magic stuff, I once used it to seal a ceramic toilet cistern from the inside while it was full of water!

I had two replace by AS, fresh and waste, both have a cap that fits on the end, has strap so that it doesn`t get lost, both are larger bore than originals so quicker to empty.

They will supply only.
