Transit based legend

Post by Ransommercrawler on Tue Apr 18, 2017 10:16 pm

Hi all our 1989 legend has 2 captains chairs. The passenger one swivels straight around while the drivers on  can only be turned 90 degrees due to the steering wheel. I have tried everything but Carney get it past this point any ideas anyone  please

think_smiley_46 I am surprised that youre Transit has two swivel bases fitted. Both our Duetto and the current Rienza have only got the swivel base fitted to the passenger seat, presumably as you have found due to lack clearance. To be honest we only use the front seats on site to store things or the dog sleeps there when he is away with us. walkies

You could look at a quick release Steering wheel but you need to check that with the wheel removed the colum allows enough clearance. Just a thought.

Might be worth a call to:

 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/bosses-fitting-kits/car/ford/transit-86-91/1988/2-5d
or
www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-category/body-styling/steering-wheel-bosses.html

Should get some advice on how to do it.

Hi, on our legend both our seats are swivel. try pulling the seat all the way forward and you can also bring the back of the seat forward as well but turning the knob on the side of the seat and this should give you enough clearance to turn it round.

up!
Hi, To turn my drivers seat round we have to wind the back of the chair right forward then it tuns under the wheel. very fiddly and you'd never get a quick get away. lol

Hi
My Legend has two swivel seats.
To swivel drivers seat i slide it back (not too far or it will hit bench cushion when turned) then tilt back forwards about 30 degrees
swivel round then with difficulty reach over seat to tilt seat back to normal
I don't bother doing this often, only if I am camped for 2 or 3 days.
If seat had quick release back lever instead of the wheel it would be fairly simple
anyone any idea if this could be done?
