Fiamma back box

Post by malandjan on Sat Apr 01, 2017 6:05 pm

Afternoon all, the trip to Cornwall is nearly here and we've been thinking about buying a Fiamma Ultra 320 box to fit on the (Fiamma) bike rack.                   Any views on the subject ? The items will be bulky, but light. What weight would be safe in the box? Thank you, Mal and Jan. broomstick                          P.S.VW Clubman GL.

Currently, the fiamma pro C bike carrier is certified to carry up to 60kg. Given that the fiamma 320 box weighs 12kg, you can load it up with 48kg of stuff. Probably wise to allow a margin of say 10kg off the maximum so as not to put too much strain on the fixings what with the vibration and 'bounce effect' given the potholes and general bad road conditions. Our two electric bikes have a combined weight of 42kg that leaves us approximately 18kg of safety that we like.

I fitted a 320 on the bike rack of our Warwick Duo and wouldnt like to be without it. Carries levelling blocks wheel pads, chemicals, wellies, walking boots and when we take them the small chairs (big ones have to go in the van)

One word of warning if you are buying new -  check the front opens and closes easily, ours needed a lot of messing about

Thanks Roli, looks like the 320 is the one for us. It's going to be very handy for those bits and pieces that are essential, but take up more useful room in the van. Mal
