Insurance with roadside and foreign cover Empty Insurance with roadside and foreign cover

Post by Peterm Mon Mar 20, 2017 2:42 pm

At present I am with Safeguard/Allianz insurance, who have offered a renewal quote of £340ish, plus AA and EU cover for a 2006 NuevoES at 72 years old.
After a couple of hours fruitlessly searching the web and just gettting frustrated, I am taking the lazy route and asking if anyone has had a much better price this year for the same sort of quote? The AA and EU cover seems worth a £100 or more.

Thanks

That doesn't sound too bad Peterm. I'm a few years younger than you and my last premium from Saga (before a claim!) was £235 including EU cover but not recovery/breakdown for my 2004 Nuevo.
I cancelled my recovery in protest because the company was offering a discount to new customers that wasn't open to existing ones..

For my 2004 Talisman Boxer 2.8 my renewal at Safeguard is £379 and a quote from Comfort is £349. Age 72 (until Thursday) and includes my wife as an additional driver.
Will try and bargain with Safeguard but previous experience with them is they are unlikely to reduce the premium!!

Thanks everyone. I think I will stick with my quote rather than go RAC. It's such a shame that the whole market is so obscure.

I joined RAC Arrival scheme via Camping and Caravan Club, full recovery for all vehicles and swmbo, 12 month European cover including my 24 yr old Landrover that I couldn't get cover for elsewhere and they even drag you off a pitch if stuck.  Which they did for me in January rolleyes

£237 this year and they do special first year price.

PS they also cover MH's over 3500 which is why I joined them.

You're probably already aware of this but it's always worth giving Safeguard a ring to check if you have told them about everything that qualifies for a discount, even club membership etc.  A couple of years ago, they had added rear view cameras/reversing sensors to the qualifying list so we got a bit more off the quoted premium for our retrofitted sensors.

And of course bear in mind Safeguard also includes UK & European breakdown cover.
