Hi all,
Is it ok to use a extension lead inside the auto-sleeper Broadway, possibly a 2 or 4 gang extension socket?

I don't see why not, as long as you don't overload it with high rated appliance and subject to the obvious commonsense issues such as avoiding trip risks etc.

I frequently use a multi-gang extension plugged into one of the van sockets but trailed through the side window to power our electric frypan and/or inductance hob, since I prefer to cook outside the van whenever possible (under the pullout awning if necessary) to avoid cooking odours inside the van, also I can work alongside the BBQ plugged into the external gas point I've installed.

Did you have any particular concerns?

My brother in law is coming away with me next weekend and he uses a sleep macho e to help him breath at night & the socket is not within reaching distance.

Should be fine Sean . We have used the same solution for years and apart from trip hazard and you are sensible and dont try to run 4 x 2 kw fan heaters all on full power at once you should be fine. to be safe just check the makers plate on the machine and verify its power requirements .

The plug on the extension lead should be correctly fused to stop overloading the lead, also your motorhome distribution panel will be protected by an RCD which will trip and isolate the supply if anything amiss occurs and the hookup supply will also be protected by an RCD so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

If the extension lead has a normal 13A fuse in its plug anything moe than 3kW will blow the fuse - and if you plug too much into the multitude of sockets in your van (5 in ours) then the 16A trip on the main inlet fusebox will trip - UNLESS of course the site's 5A trip on the bollard goes first.
