Hi does anyone know what the most common engine faults are on these , ive noticed a lot of air bubbles coming through pipe , someone said to me it could be the fuel filter housing diaphram letting air in ?

Are the air bubbles coming from tank to filter or filer to pump?

I would try all the connections at the filter head, also the filter itself where it connects. You can by pass the filter and filter head just to confirm that area is the problem. Don,t leave it by passed.

Had similar problems on trucks. Try by passing filter head. You say that the bubbles are after filter so it would seem the pick up from tank to filter is ok.

I can't recall now what the Trafic fuel tank is like now, but one possibility is partial blockage of the fuel tank outlet due to 20 years of crud in the tank. That can lead to small bubbles in the fuel supply due to cavitation in the pump. Another could be a leak in the vacuum system - normally this will stop it idling, but it's not always the case, as we found on our Mk2 Transit!

If bubbles are still present run a pipe direct from tank to same point (you can stick it down filler neck) if no bubbles you know its the pipe from tank or pick up in the tank. Good luck.

Hi good you now know the problem but bear in mind an in line filter will not filter the same quantity of fuel as the filter head filter. Also check the microns of the   original filter. You don,t want to end up with wear in the pump.
