Can anyone suggest or recommend  something to put on our pull out seats at bedtime. We have an older executive and now my ageing back is finding it a bit hard at bedtime. We use a fluffy blanket at the moment under a fitted sheet but I would like something softer but not to bulky to pack away. Mattress toppers for beds seem huge. Any suggestions welcome but duvalay is a wee bit pricy. Many thanks . scratch head scratch head

We bought a cheap('ish) mattress topper, which was only around 1" thick.
Nuevogirl made a cover for it out of two flat sheets (similar to a duvet cover) and we laid that on the settee bases and it was much comfier. It was thin enough to fold in three and then roll up to store in the overact cupboard alongside the duvet and two pillows.
We've both hotbed backs but found it ideal. Hope that helps.

Cheap duvet?

Folded double perhaps, and the thickest you can roll up and put away. They will squash down quite well, so that may be a solution?

May I suggest a thin inflatable mattress ? We had a couple of nice velour covered ones in our VW T5 some years ago, nice and comfy .

The upholstery on my van is also on the thin side & I always found the bedding a little uncomfortable, also, as mine has 4 separate seats at the back, there's several 'joints' when made up as a bed,  I completely cured this by buying a couple of velour  blow-up 'box' mattresses, OK, so a couple of minutes with the electric pump each way, but that just fine by me as I now get a real comfy night, also, I whack it up real hard,  (personal taste ) & they roll up just about the same size as an umbrella!!

We use a thin single mattress topper that covers about a two thirds of the 'double-bed'. It's on my wife's side  but I don't find the 'ridge' uncomfortable.

In our caravaning days we bought a cheap thin double then cut it down to fir.

Thinking further, do you actually need to pack them away?

If you got some cheap mattress toppers (better than the thick duvets I thought of earlier) could you not leave them on the seats permanently - under a nice throw perhaps if it looked better.

It would be kinder on the ancient bum during the day, as well as the benefit at night.

Exactly what we do Dave.... you are sooooo clever hugegrins

We had two memory foam toppers custom made by a company called Bodymould in Rusper, Sussex they will make whatever you want to fit any shape exactly. We have two inch foam toppers with a throw over the top, make the seats extra comfy in the day and that way we can have either two singles or a double at night and no storage issues to worry about.

To make the above combo even more comfortable roll your duvet(s) in long sausages and then, either make a bolster cushion for them or roll them in a matching throw, and put it along the back of the seat. That way you have something to soften the straight edges of the seat back and you don't have to find a daytime store for either mattress topper or duvet.  I found it helped me get comfortable as the bench seats are a little wide even for me who is quite tall.

I also put our pillows ( feather and down ones so they fold in half) in matching cushion covers and they stay out all day as well.  We bought memory foam mattress toppers from Argos- a double, cut in half is just right.

We use a King Size Aldi memory foam topper, about 1.5" thick, and store it away in a vacuum bag when it isn't needed or when we need to maximise storage space.

We fold it into the vacuum bag, then I lie on the bag while 'she' zips it up. It's amazing how small it ends up, not much bigger than a pillow.
