Questions on a Broadway Empty Questions on a Broadway

Post by AndyRoyd Thu Mar 09, 2017 5:54 pm

Picked up my new to me Broadway Dec. 2012 yesterday so been mooching around it today.
I have found a USB port in the centre glove box, what is this for? can I plug in a stick and play music on the radio?

I was given a bag of parts, this included a Truma frost control unit and a 12v solenoid valve assembly, does this mean that a manual drain has been fitted for the Truma, there looks to be a manual drain valve.

When I used the filler tap hose it continued to fill until the tank overflowed so I assume the shut of solenoid has been removed.

If you do a search for Truma frost control on this forum, you may find a reason why yours has been replaced with the more reliable manual dump valve. Some have had issues with the Truma frost control valve leaking due possibly to poor quality seals prematurely wearing. Much cheaper to replace it with the less expensive manual version previously used on many vans and caravans.  The frost control valve is a good idea but still in its proving stage in my opinion. I have the Truma frost control valve still in my Broadway EB.  Touch wood it still works, but I think it is only a matter of time when it will need replacing! Similarly with the cheap whale pump we have in the fresh water tank. No doubt I will have to replace that with the more reliable Shurflo Trail King mounted to the floor next to the Trumer Boiler. Forewarned is forearmed!

All fun and games with owning a Broadway. From our own experience, Mark at Auto-Sleepers is vey helpful and understanding with dealing with niggles!

Tried a stick in the usb socket but it would not recognise it, 2012 registered but built to a 2013 version?

After a couple of days away in the van I have sussed out that the shut off water solenoid has been removed along with the low temp unit, OK by me.

This is what I was hoping for, will have to get a lead and check it out, how do you select it on the Radio?

Hi Whightman,
Just checked with my TT 720 and it does charge it though I had to switch on the TT first, if I plugged in then started the TT it went into the PC mode.
Also the ignition has to be turned on to power up the USB port, it also charges my Samsung phone and plays usb sticks ok.
