Central locking Locking System Empty Central locking Locking System

Many thank's to those who advised me to contact A.S. regarding the design fault on the Hab door....After informing the Dealer of the problem the faulty module was replaced,MB replaced the blown SAM unit,(warranty).....all good right now.....just a couple of point's..I now notice that the Hab step activate's when the door's are unlocked. This didn't happen before?Alway's had to use the manual button...When the ignition is switched on the step retract's...is this correct?
Also the Motor Home door alarm, when armed only operate's on the front door's & not the Hab door...I would have thought that any of the 3 door's would activate?...hopefully a fellow Winchcombe owner can answer my queries.
Best Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew's, not a Winchcombe owner but yes via the key fob, the habitation step drops down which also activates the neon light above door. However this may depend on the configuration within the said key? The step will close on engine start with alarm buzzer sounding. Sorry, can't help with the habitation door not activating alarm. Regards

Hi Andrew, ours hasn't got an additional alarm just the basic MB system which doesn't cover the hab door.  The step deployment can be set within the Sargent control unit menu section.
Ours does retract when engine starts which I think is a good safety measure (my memory being as good as it is 'not' Whistle1).

Hi Andrew,
Yes, it is operating correctly and as Jaytee says you (or your dealer) can change it back to the manual setting you had previously in the Sargent control panel.

Regarding your Hab door alarm - it depends if an overall alarm has been fitted (this was an additional item bought and fitted after delivery from AS) to your van. The clue would be if you can see an alarm contact point fitted somewhere around the Hab door but as Jaytee says a lot of people rely on the basic MB alarm - in which case the Hab door will not trigger the alarm.  The Hab door will unlock with the cab doors (via the key fob) but you will still need to open one of the cab doors (I think it must be done within 40 seconds) otherwise the system will rearm and re-lock all doors - so remember you could get locked out!! Whilst all of the doors lock/unlock via the SAM units I understand that is was difficult (and probably cost extra) to integrate the basic cab alarm as part of the Hab door and in any event it was thought that owners would fit an additional alarm system anyway. Most after market alarms systems are compatible with the MB Can-Bus system and will give no problems if fitted correctly.

Hello again Andrew,
As mentioned in PM our Winchcombe (2013 registered model) hab. step only operates manually using the button on the LH side about halfway up the entrance steps and it does retract when the ignition is switched on also sounding a buzzer.
The alarm does work on the hab. door and I have located what I think is a sensor on the door frame about 3/4 of the way down on the RH side of the door frame. I have just tied to test it without success as I didn't want to tug too hard in case I damaged the lock! SWMBO did test by accident a few weeks ago - she must have used more force than me!!!

Cheers, Andy

Best wishes,

Andy

Hi Andy,
You should be able to re configure, via the control panel (EC480), the Hab step and awning light to operate when you use the key fob on opening and closing you vehicle!
I believe it is as follows:-
Scroll the control panel (EC480) menu back to the AS Logo,
Then hold down both the up and down buttons for a few seconds,
You will then find your are into the sub menu for making system adjustments,
You just scroll up or down within this menu to locate the Step "Auto" or "Manual" - its fairly intuitive,
Select the one you require and then exit.
Hope this helps - that is if you want the auto step function!!
Cheers,
Liam

Hello Liam,
Many thanks for this information. Will have a look at the control panel although not sure if I will change the configuration as happy enough with 'manual activation' as currently set!
Most important thing is for step to retract automatically before moving off!!
Best wishes, Andy
