Winchcombe Windscreen Blind Empty Winchcombe Windscreen Blind

Post by martin martinson Mon Mar 06, 2017 10:59 am

We picked up our 2014 Winchcombe on Friday and when settling down for the night we set about closing the cab blinds.  The side cab blinds are great, but the blinds on the windscreen do not meet because the mirror/reversing camera screen is in the way!

Is there some secret as to how these work?
Help appreciated.up!

There is, or should be, a section of the meeting stiles that is cut and pushes out of the way when closed. Push together harder. hugegrins

As PLOUGHLIN has said you have to adjust the mirror and the 2 push in sections on the blinds fit around the mirror bracket, you may have to fiddle with the mirror/camera a little to get it in just the right place

Hi Martin and a big welcome to the forum from Filey and a fellow Winchcombe owner allthumbz.

As others have mentioned it is just a case of moving the rear view a bit when closing the blinds (being careful not to knock the camera screen off it. Been there but caught it b4 any damage). What I do is close one side and then turn the mirror sideways to hold the blind closed against the spring and then close the other side. Keeps the mirror out of the way and saves holding both blinds at the same time.

Hello Martin and welcome to the forum. We also have a Winchcombe and we have to unclip (carefully) the reversing camera screen to allow easy access behind for the blinds. As noted by others, each blind then clips shut.
It can be a bit of a fiddle and care is needed when removing the screen (and also when clipping back on!)
We purchased a 'silver screen' quite soon after getting the van and use this when sleeping on board which negates the need for the inside blinds and would certainly recommend this. Enjoy the van! Andy

Hi
We have a Surrey with the same problem,I think the blinds are a bit skimpy as when we tried to shut them they pulled away from the out side edges,We also use a Silver Screen as it keeps the van warmer

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I shall be having a fiddle this coming friday. A silver screen is on the shopping list, we had one on the Broadway we owned previously, and were very pleased with it.

On our Ducato based van the blinds cannot be closed around the mirror. The van was actually supplied without a mirror by the converter (not Autosleeper) so I bought one and then found the blinds would not close around the mirror stem as the cut out was slightly in the wrong place. I used to put the mirror on when driving but then stopped as I got just as good a view of what was directly behind from the twin lens camera and on the previous van there was no rear view through a back window anyway.

We also had a problem one one occasion with a blind detaching itself from the side. The van had been parked up in the hot sun with the blinds closed and I think the glue was softened by the heat - just pressed the detached bit back into place. We now just pull the across so they partially shade the front in daytime and only close them fully at night  and have had no problems since.
