Whilst grovelling around under Florrie looking for any possible cause of the electrical failure (another thread) l noticed that the moulding directly aft of the cab doors is completely open at the bottom and looking up into it there is quite a lot of room to add small cupboards or shelves in the bulkhead inside the van, or use it to run wiring or?  Not sure if it supposed to be open to the elements as there is no insulation, but now found the possibilities are endless smile!

Now that is a find, but endless  snigger

I keep looking at the wasted space under the drivers side settee, on the other side of the leisure battery where the plumbing lives. I worry about putting stuff there in case it moves and disturbs the pipework  think_smiley_46

Do you actually need more storage space John?

Build a simple cover for the wires and pipes.

Not very difficult, and peace of mind when the Memsahib starts chucking shoes, handbags, hair dryers, etc., etc. under there! shrugg  broomstick

I've boxed the pipe work in with a couple of pieces timber and plywood, ideal storage for me tinned haggis.

Ha ha, in a word NO, but would make a nice little recessed shelf to put my morning cup of tea while still lounging in bed allthumbz

Anyone else with a Winchcombe? Would you have a look underneath at some time and let me know if your bodywork in said location is also open to the elements, insects et al just in case they have missed a bit on mine? I might insulate it when I get a chance to keep the cold air out of that area.

Try to get a 'distant' shot as well to put the location in context.

OH has just been under ours to look (after replacing draintap!) - yes, there is a space where the outside moulding, which makes up the difference between the width of the cab and the width of the hab area, is. This is the curved bit that catches all the muck as you drive along.  You can see the edge of the floorboard, OH not toally sure how well sealed the edge is, but ours will be when the weather gets better!

Will try to get a photo, but as for putting it on here?  Never tried before, so don't hold your breath!

This has reminded me of a required locker sort out with our Rienza. We have loads of cupboard space, some not used yet, and lots of under seat space. Apart from the wheel arches there is very little under the rear seats. It is one locker all the way round with no divides.
I had thought of dividing off the right hand corner to leave an area for things like hoses, leads and other outside equipment. Also this would make the van a little more secure from the outside and reduce a slight draft in that corner.  think_smiley_46
