Which TV to buy Empty Which TV to buy

Post by T25Pete Sun Feb 12, 2017 7:14 pm

I'm looking for some views on a good 240 / 12v TV for use in a 2016 Nuevo EK.
The AVtex 188 18.5 inch seams to be about the right size and reviews on AVtex look good, although they do look expensive.
Also any recommendations on storage. I have seen various hard and soft cases at all prices. Any recommendations?
Thanks
Pete

Having had cheaper models I would not be without an Avtex in the van now. I currently have the L188DRS, so many good features including signal strength meter and battery level indicator.

In my view the best storage is fixed to a fold out mounting bracket and permanently wired.

I agree with Peter, and wish I had the same model as him with the signal strength meter. Avtex are undeniably expensive, but in this case I think you get what you pay for, including excellent customer support.

As for storage, if you can't, or don't want to leave the telly permanently fitted to a bracket, you could build a little padded box to store it in the underbed area. I posted a photo of mine some time ago. I'll see if I can find it later but I have just been summoned by the boss - for the third time!!!

I'll not comment on TV but for storage I use a laptop briefcase, padded and can be bought really cheap compared with a dedicated TV case.

I'm with Paul on the laptop case idea - much cheaper than the Avtex! We've got the L186DRS (previous model to Peter's), and it is a cracking little tv.

Avtex TV and free Avtex soft carry case, ideal for motorhome touring, stored in the Luton overhead area.

Yes agree totally re Avtex. We noticed a huge difference on reception and quality when e changed to one. We are cheapskates I am afraid and just wrap a towel round it hugegrins

Thanks for all of the replies. Looks like AVtex is the way to go and I have a spare laptop bag so storage will be sorted too.
Once again thanks everyone for informative and prompt replies.
Cheers Pete

Yes Avtex for sure, on many occasions I don't even raise the aerial and I still get good reception, I put that down to the quality of the receiver in the telly!
