Bulb changes Empty Bulb changes

Post by JSP Sat Jan 07, 2017 7:00 pm

Hi,
Just taken delivery of our Broadway and whilst settling down for our first night I couldn't find the switch to turn the hab door footwell light off so turned the light switch off on the ec500 control panel. I did notice that the cover of the footwell light was quite warm/hot from the bulb which I am guessing is a bog standard 12v festoon? So it was/is on my list for an LED bulb change.
Today, I swapped out the G4 halogen bulbs with LED's from the two lights above the cab area - very pleased with the result.
Next I turned my attention to the footwell light and notice what looks like two screw covers. Moved my fingers over the translucent bulb cover and noticed slight movement and subsequently discovered giving the left side of it a push actuates the light on/off switch! Didn't know that.
Has anyone changed this bulb? I don't want to damage anything trying to get at it. Two possible means of attack:
1. Prise off screw covers and see what comes off.
2. Try and tease off the translucent cover to expose the bulb.
Thanks in advance.

John

Surprised they are still fitting the rocker switch foot well light. Got that on our 2006 Nuevo. Maybe an example of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'

Wouldn't call it a rocker switch. It iis not obvious its a switch at all. Just press left hand side of the illuminated part of the light for on and off and it spring loads back to original flush position.

I think it is a sealed unit, bulb not accessible. A previous thread discussed this.

If you look at this previous thread you will see that with a bit of care you can carefully prise off the front cover.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. Co-incidentally I have just come indoors from looking at the light and discovered via google that it is a sealed unit with no access to the bulb.

Appreciate the links given to the other threads. Think I'll leave it be until I need to change the bulb. Nice to know that with care the bulb can be got at.
