Hi Margaret,  seem to get reasonable reviews online . If you are interested in the van  I think you are , pay particular attention to the chassis cab with regards to corrosion . I see they have a negative comment regarding non returnable deposits. You know what to look for in the habitation side  but its worth taking someone who can give the cab section a once over just to give peace of mind . If you do buy give it a thorough drenching in Waxoyl and it should be okay for years to come. Looks nice inside!

Good luck , hope everything goes Ok  with the purchase. If it was closer I would check it out for you no problem. Are you a member of Aa or Rac ? They used to, for a fee  , check out mechanically any prospective purchase. Perhaps the garage you use would give it the once over ? A few pounds spent now may just save thousands or give you extra assurance when signing on the dotted line. All the best..

I know this has been mentioned before so you may have already done it - you can check out the vehicle's detailed MOT history of passes and fails with reasons, including advisories, since 2005 here which may give some useful background:

Thanks Roger, every van I have looked as a possibility in the past two weeks I have checked out, this one has all passes, one advisory braking system requires adjustment , it had only done 500 miles so I say it had been standing.

Dealer gives it an engine check / service, hab check, damp test, then water sprayed over it, left for a while then damp tested again,  has 3 year RAC Warranty on all engine parts each claim up to £500 anything more than that I have to pay, no limit on how many claims in the 3 years.

Hopefully everything will be ok.
Best regards,
Margaret

Thanks for that very reassuring, always good to know of others who have bought from a dealer and had a good service, so many dodgy ones about.

Regards,
Margaret

Went today, disappointed in the Amethyst, heavy on the steering and lacked power up a long hill. need a newer model with a more powerful engine. I sat in the back for a time, impressed with the van, really thought this is the one.

Also impressed with the dealer, nothing too much trouble, I apologized after driving for quite a while, as I wasn`t going to buy it, no trouble we have your details on file and will contact you straight away. There are expecting vans to come filtering through from the NEC, they are in contact with someone there re pre owned vans, they don`t go to the NEC themselves as they don`t need to, get sales by word of mouth, had sold 16 vans this week. were quite a few looking at vans and some definitely buying. So hope they get one in for me, only an hour away.
Regards,
Margaret

Sorry to hear that it didn't go well, hope you find what you want soon.
Offer still stands. If you want to look at one nearer to you Fullers at Gunthorpe have one same year but a lot more money.

Thanks David, I really appreciate that, will have a look tomorrow when not so tired, had a look at Fullers, and cannot find an Amethyst, a Windsor which I looked a few weeks ago, low on storage and payload.
I think I may have to up the price I pay, would if only I could find a van.

Thank you.
Regards,
Margaret

Yes you are right of course it is a Windsor which is also the model they have at Highbridge.
Didn't realise that they made the Amethyst much after the one you looked at.
Was that the one with the damp problems at Fullers

No that damp one was at EDM, It had been looked after re the hab side, engine waxold including all bolts etc, but the damp was a leak in the roof, thought it may have been the kitchen skylight, went right over the loo area, as the ceiling next to the loo was dropping, well the lining was, loo door caught on the roof when opening door. the money these vans cost, and ruined by water, could have been standing for a while I suppose.

I see the vans , I would probably have had , then find the damp, it is a bit disheartening at times, oh well what will be will be. I do feel I have exhausted the market of what is out there that may be suitable.at the moment,  perhaps there  will be more vans in the next few weeks.

Many thanks,
Margaret

Hi, Have just found this enquiry. We bought our Nuevo ES from them 2 years ago. They were everything we could have wished for - helpful, generous with their time and fulfilled everything they promised. If and when we change we will certainly go back to them even though they are 300 miles away. We bought over the phone unseen (contrary to my instincts) but could not have been more impressed. On collection van was newly valeted inside and out, with new service and MOT (Chassis and hab) new cambelt, hab service, 12 months tax and warranty. Full and very detailed handover took 2 hours! Previously we had bought new from Brownhills Newark who were dreadful - I could write a book on the trouble we had with them! OakTree were the other end of the scale. Over 2 years on what is now a 12 year old van we have had not a single issue. On our experience we would 100% recommend them.  We dealt with Jason who was magic - even invited us to call in for coffee if ever we happen to be passing.

Hi
Oaktree motorhomes maybe OK but when I purchased my MH it was sold with a RAC warrenty and it was awefull I managed to make one claim for repairs to the fridge just They only want to pay mickey mouse labour rates, they think Halfords are the best bet and beware there contact phone No was a premium rate line. In my mind not worth the paper it is printed on,an in house warrenty is much better let the dealer who sold warrenty the motorhome

RAC warranty is rubbish! During the first year of owning my Talisman, Oaktree (from whom I bought it) covered all labour costs of a few problems I had and did not resort to the warranty. Into the second year it was down to the RAC warranty. I had to have some work done on the gear lever selector cables and because no parts were involved I had to foot the labour bill.
All in all, I have found Oaktree to be very helpful and trustworthy. Now just thankful that I'm just out of the RAC warranty so not tied to their terms and conditions of who I can employ to carry out any potential work
