Clubman Windows.

Post by wakaday on Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:05 pm

I have the early Clubman with the BIG windows. HUGE Pain in the window as well as the backside.
Has anyone successfully replaced them  with alternatives or managed to source gen replacement Perspex?
The Frames are ok but the perspex and rubber seals have seen better days and one is slightly leaking now.
Ideally, i would like to fit the Gatcombe style windows but I believe they are smaller?

Just a point, I haven`t noticed that the older Clubmans have larger windows than later Gatcombes / Anniversary Clubman, I take it you are referring to the lounge / side windows.

Have you measured them and then compared them to the later G/AC`s  presumably you have the measurements of those?, if not I can get them for you, when this torrential rain stops, if it ever does so, has been like it all day, and it is so dark have to have the lights on.

As the older Clubmans are shorter than the later ones, could this make the windows appear larger.?

The windows in the Gatcombe / Anniversary Clubman are not standard sizes, as AS had their own sizes, as I found out when the dealer fitted two new ones in my van, they had to make the hole slightly bigger to take the replacement windows, only a few mm`s to make the new frames  fit. they were going to just replace the acrylic part of the window, but they wouldn`t fit the original frames, I would like new blinds, but they have to be altered to fit the windows.

The price of my new windows were £600 + from AS not cheap.

Hope you get it sorted.
Regards,
Margaret

PS new seals are available from AS

I think early Clubman's had square corner windows and later ones have rounded corners but I could be wrong.

Thanks for that Paul, in truth haven't looked at them in depth. I know I have the rounded corners, trouble is with the older vans things get changed then it isn`t an easy fit to replace.

If it is a case of leaks new seals would stop that. unless they have cracked where the hinges are, due to previous owners just pulling to close the windows and not lifting up first and then gently closing them, that is why I had new windows fitted, wasn`t going to buy the van with cracked windows.

Thanks everyone. Its the side windows. They have square corners and they slide.
Im sure they are bigger than the rounded edge type but dont they open outwards?
I really dont want to go down the original replacement route at that price if I can source something that will fit the Bill without the Bill if you know what I mean. I have had a look at the Para press site but not came up with the correct sizes.
Does anyone know of any specialist AS Breakers?

As far as I can remember  they were £600 + for two complete windows, ( probably that was without the vat and fitting. ) with  frame and acrylic panes , they were replaced by the dealer under warranty and they ordered the windows from Auto-sleepers direct. it was in 2013.

I had the sliding windows in my Topaz, and I liked them to be honest as I could have them slightly open when driving, handy for me ,as  I travel with my dog.

But your van would perhaps be better for you if they are changed.

Hope you get it sorted.

I've just replaced my Executive lounge Windows at Eeco. Very pleased. Because I had both done I decided to have privacy tint, very impressive.
Only thing is you need to take the old Windows for them to use as a pattern for the new mould. They have a choice of 3 colours. I called in person and they did them in 3 working days.
