Sites For Visiting Olympics Stadium

Post by ssjohnl on Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:25 pm

If you're in the fortunate few who managed to get tickets for the Olympics particularly the main Olympics site, do you have any ideas of good Caravan Club sites to stay at? Obviously they would need to be near to a transport link of some kind, probably a train station.

We have tickets for just a single day next August in the Athletics stadium and are looking for a suitable CC site where we could hopefully be around half an hour or so away. Perhaps that's optimistic!

I seem to remember reading in a mag only recently about a CC or C&CC site near to the olympic stadium ? May have been in the last C&CC magazine sorry but not certain on this

This one is probably too far out for you (Central London 35 minutes) but looks OK otherwise

I too remember something about one or both of the clubs arranging a temporary site for the Olympics. If you are a member why not ring the club's booking departments. I seem to remember that the site fees were fairly high.

I'm still thinking about which site to use - my latest thought is the CC site at Welwyn Garden City. The handbook says it's 20 mins from Kings Cross so that seems ok. I imagine I'd need to allow another hour to get to the stadium on the tube so that would mean leaving Welwyn railway station at around 7.30 am. Does anyone know if the bus service (stop within 1 mile of the site apparently) could get me to the railway station or even if the railway station is within walking distance of the site?
