Ouch! I have scratched it

Post by Barry the Bishop on Sun Oct 23, 2016 8:24 am

We have had a great week away in our Gatcombe. From Moreton in Marsh to Broadway and finally Tewkesbury. Only problem was that the heater kept tripping the site electrics. Apparently damp around the convector element might be the cause.
So, as we were coming in the driveway at home I managed to swing right a bit to early,- forgot the overhang at the back- and scratched the nearside corner. The dark grey , the cream and the mint sections all have a scratch which needs repair. The local caravan workshop said "Give me the names of the colours and we'll sort it."
Does anyone know the names and numbers of the colours used on Gatcombes?

Just thinking, would it be worth using one of the vehicle scratch repair mobile people. They can do a fantastic job and colour matching.

hadnt thought of that. just a bit worried as its all Gel coat Fibre glass, not the easiest to repair, like a normal car or van.  Worth considering though.  Thanks

It may be worth your while taking it to a marine / boat repair specialist. They work much more regularly with gel coat. I took my Clubman for a minor repair and offered to get the colour codes for him, he said he would prefer to make his own match to allow for weathering, age etc.

The mobile people are very good and I would have a look round them.    The grey is Land Rover Slate Grey.

I reversed one of my cars into the other. Bumpers were some sort of plastic. Chipsaway came and did both and you could not tell that anything had happened.

They will come and have a look first and will tell you if they can do the job and the cost before you commit yourself.

Don't know if this will be of help but I have a 1999 Amethyst and it has a Monocoque shell with that sort of mint green/cream combo.   I assume it's the same for yours.
I have the original manual and it says the following:
Base Vehicle : Ford Diamond White Code ZA  (Mine's a Transit Chassis so I guess yours will be a standard white VW colour)
Coachwork  : Renault Blanc Code 355
Skirt and Upper Coachline :Austin Rover Slate Grey Code 348
Adhesive Coach Stripe 1050-SEAL  0550-1228  5/16"-021202 1810-28

Hopefully that will help if not now maybe in the future!
Good luck getting the scratch fixed!
