What 'extras' to buy!?

Hi All,
Just got back from the NEC having placed my order for a new Bourton  - Delivery early 2017. So the question now is what extras should I get. (We are past Topaz owners so we have many of the basics stored in the garage)
TV is essential - so going for AVTEX and also bike rack for 2 electric bikes (probably Thule V16 as it lowers to the ground for easy loading) New awning carpet as the old one is wrong size and a bit worn.
But what else? - I've been looking at awning LED lighting strip (Thule) and we also need some new outdoor chairs (Isabella?) but what else would you all suggest. Is there anything that's best fitted pre delivery? All ideas and suggestions very welcome. What are your 'must haves' and what are your little (or big) luxuries?

We didn't buy much in advance, just a set of adaptors for filling the LPG tank.

We also had the dealer fit a Cat 1 alarm and some reversing buzzers, although they didn't prevent me from hitting a tree yesterday and they may not work with a bike rack.

Almost forgot, we did buy a cooking plate thingy at the ideal home exhibition. 

Made by spanish firm, Castey this is a large cast flat plate with soft handles which sits on either the gas or electric ring. (If your oven is big enough it can go in there too.) It was demonstrated as Fat free but Heather says a bit of oil is needed for certain foods.

There are various sizes and styles but ours is ideal for two. They have a Web site but I wasn't too impressed with its navigation.

I think the only thing I would have had from build would have been a bigger solar panel as ours only has a 30 watt. But easy to do later if necessary and depends on your camping MO anyway.
Otherwise just go for it and suss what you need as you camp.

I think you are right. I had decided to stop and the tree noise and the buzzer happened pretty much at the same time. No obvious damage done.

I agree with jaytee, a larger solar panel something about 140-150 watt.

Remember all the extras you add, will eat into your payload so don't go overboard, just add what is necessary.

A lot of them will end up in the loft, or cluttering up the garage if you are like most of us, so don't get over enthusiastic!!

You may already have the most useful extras. We rate Duvalays; external silver screen; Al-Ko AirTops, and and the lowering bike rack as our top four. We bought some other items which, although not "must haves" are useful: Cadac BBQ; small vax; drill (to lower and raise steadies and biked); Thule awning tie-down; etc etc.

Twin rear view cameras, with 7" rear mirror monitor, a must in my view, pardon the pun.

Hi , at the time of ordering we asked for what I considered essential items, a spare "real" ignition key, a conventional means of filling the water tank, an Omnivent above the kitchen and an exterior tv input socket . I would now with hindsight have asked if it was possible to upgrade the water pump to a Shureflow at the build stage [saving hassle shortly after purchase]. Hi i fitted a v b full air suspension made my driving and comfort the real way of touring......No bumps better steering side winds no problem 4000 thousand pounds.For me the best thing on my van T V second....Most people think too  expensive the safe driving experience..When you load up for a long trip i feel Full Air Suspension could not think of a better extra Hope this helps...Only the best for safety..

Looking to do the same Anthony. Did you say 4 grand for VB full air Suspension? We had a quote at the show recently and were told around a £1000 fitted with two dials and compressor. Are we talking of the same thing here?

We have done exactly the same. The only things I specified are Cat 1 alarm and we are having the whole of the area above the cab made into a cupboard for our sleeping bags and pillows. Everything else we want will be transferred from the present van rolled up chairs and outside table, levelling blocks, filling hose etc etc. We don't use a TV whilst away - stopped taking one when we realised we never watched it. I have also been leaving the bike at home so haven't bothered with a rack - wife doesn't ride anyway.

We are expecting delivery in Feb 2017 - but will not be surprised if the date slips although will be a bit hacked off if it is any later than April.

The only thing I will need to do is re-join the club which we left when we changed our Executive many years ago.

Today I remembered a few other things we specified.

We asked for an extra oven shelf which is very useful.  We were under the impression that the freezer compartment was removable - it is not - so asked for an extra fridge shelf. If we got one it is sitting at home.

And finally we asked for two arm rests on both vehicle seats rather than the odd arrangement of just one on each as standard.

2kw induction hob.. I got mine from Lidl in June £25.
Small and great for cooking outside assuming you have power.
Of course you need the right sort of pans. Saves the smells and the smell of bacon outside is wonderful!

Sounds a good idea, but I guess you need to be on a site with at least 10amps or more. With some sites with 6amps it would possibly trip their circuit. Some foreign sites just don't have the amperage.

We bought a Broadway in March and had the usual accessories which we kept from our caravan. We then bought several items which we thought would be essential for a motorhome and are now going to get rid of! My suggestion is not to buy anything until you have used the motorhome a couple of times.
