replacing the stripes

Post by daisy mae on Fri Oct 14, 2016 3:27 pm

My Husband had a job for a graphics firm today unrelated to Motorhome,

While there I enquired about having new stripes as a few are getting a little dog eared especially the high ones over the cab.

I always thought that the wide green stripe was painted on, and the thin stripes put on top. not so it seems, I thought a while ago I could take off the thin stripes and leave the wide green band, as it isn`t painted on that will not work.  the graphics are not bad just thought I would get a price for future reverence.

Thought the information may be useful for others.

Thanks Paul getting the stripes not a problem, have seen the work this graphics firm does and they are very professional and only four miles from me. They also apply them, they have done lots of motorhomes this summer.

I put the thread on as I understood someone on the forum said that the green wide stripe was painted on, I  thought the information might be useful to others who thought the same.

Maybe AS changed between 2001 and your 2003 model but my wide green stripe is definitely painted with the thin red and silver stripes being vinyl on the roll applied over the top. The thin waistband stripe in all on a vinyl roll.  I have no doubt your graphic company could make up a vinyl stripe in Green, red and silver which would cover the area of previous stripe completely, might be a touch expensive though.

Yes Norgil ,  £250 to take off and reapply with new. they did say they could do it on top of the old that would be cheaper,

if I go down that route, will be next year now, will change the graphics, plain green bands and possibly some swirls, not original but neither is the furnishings after being redone.

Didn`t check the top green panel just the middle one easier to look at, maybe the top one is painted.is that the paint code for the green or the body of your van?

Lovely van by the way, not many about as I found when looking for one.

Don't know why i said green stripe it's a grey stripe lol says in the book skirt and upper coach line austin rover slate grey 348. It's a pain of a stripe as it always goes chalky and white and being high up it's hard to polish.
