Reversing camera fuse.

Post by mobileone on Fri Oct 07, 2016 10:27 am

Can anyone advise on existence, location of 12v. fuse, supplying power to camera monitor.Monitor dropped from its mirror mounting and as a consequence became faulty.Managed to find exact replacement, but can,t make it work.I think the old monitor blew the fuse, bits seemed to rattle inside it.Investigated and found a couple of small springs and bits of plastic which I assume held the springs in place.I think one of the loose springs caused a short in the circuit of the monitor and blew the fuse( if there is one)? Any advice offered would be appreciated.

The reversing camera was not original equipment. The only way to find out how the circuit was installed is to trace the wiring.

Faulty camera monitor

Thanks for your reply Peter
.I am no auto electrician, but I have just noticed on the basic circuit diagram the note to connect to +12v from reversing light circuit.I will try and find information on whereabouts of the fuse supplying power to this circuit.Any further input or suggestions greatly appreciated.

If your fuse box is in the same location as my 2002 Gatcombe (VW based) then it is to the right of the steering column. There is a panel clip/screw to remove the cubby hole and the fuse box is located behind. I think you need to look at fuse 14 (second from right on the lower fuse box - behind and down from the main strip of fuses).

To Onlysme, thanks for your reply.Ihave found fuse box, only 3 fuses in lower fuse box, checked them, all seem OK. Two 15a. one 30a.If reversing light bulb(,which is not working)could this be the cause?

The bulb could well be the cause of the light not working but not of the reversing camera not working.
