1995 Boxer Heater Matrix Varients Empty 1995 Boxer Heater Matrix Varients

Post by crashedash32 Sat Jan 28, 2017 9:57 am

Hi, I am new to the forum, so i do apologize if this is the incorrect section to post this question..

I have a coach built Motor that i am restoring, starting with the engine, cabin then moving to the habitation area.

i have a leaky Heater Matrix, pretty common from what i understand on a Boxer.

I have the complete dash out at the moment to taking the Matrix out is OK.

But i can see several different varients of Heater Matrix replacements all apparently suitable for my  Boxer.

the one fitted to my van looks like this;

but mister-auto have told me that this one will also fit;

there is a significant cost difference, but i don't want to waste time ordering the cheaper unit if it wont fit..

personally i cannot see how it will fit as it looks so different.. shrugg

Any advice would be really appreciated..

thanks in advance..

Like you, I cannot see how the one picture will fit. I believe there are different matrix's for left or right hand drive and I was also told that the one for a minibus is different.
My advice would be to take the matrix out and buy a replacement that looks the same.
I bought mine from here:

Its a while ago though.

Hi Frank,

thanks for your response, i took your advice and ordered the one that looked the same.

should be here tomorrow, will put the new dash in over the weekend.

I have one other problem i am trying to figure out.

The Dash out of the 2001 i am trying to fit in my 1995 boxer has a different Hazard switch, 1 pin (pin4) missing.

with this pin disconnected the hazard lights only work if the indicators are on (left or right)..

any thoughts??

Sorry! haven't a clue - perhaps Bartfarst may be able to help? he did a complete engine and cockpit swap.

No Problem, thanks for coming back to me anyway.

I have all the circuit diagrams, so i will start a new thread with a load more detail..

I'm sure someone with auto electrics experience will know instantly, i am just not that clever. :(

i have all the schematics, i can see exactly how it works.. just can't figure out how to work around it.. lol.. shrugg
