Rosemarkie EHU on front none awing patches

Post by burlingtonboaby on Tue Aug 16, 2016 12:45 pm

Unknown to us on booking a week earlier this year,  the none awing front row beach pitches have EHU,had I have known this I would have booked a none awning pitch.
The last time I was here three years ago the front row was none electric and used mainly by tenters and smaller campers.
We are into are third day of excellent sunny weather, however cool at night with a heavy dew in the morning.
BBQs ready for this afternoon, giving the haggis a rest, how long to get up here Paul, in Anglesey

Hi Boaby, glad to hear your weather is good and your not trying to bbq haggis! Rosemarkie  has been all EHU for 2 or 3 Yrs which makes it harder to get a "front row " pitch so you were lucky! .We had pitch 17 which was quite good as although its second row ,the row in front has been washed away!!  Have a great trip Kind regards         Paul

Hi Paul
Unfortunately we are on the back row next to the water taps, pitch 10, it was the only pitch offered to us and it is a dry bog.the previous campers sat here four a month, leaving a dead grass brown area.
Despite requesting a move to a empty pitch , the unflaxable warden didn't won't to know.
We arrived at 1.pm, as per the T&Cs, so not to get a * Telling off * only to find three vans in front.
Fortunately the weather here is great, clear blue sky's , dolphins on the horizon .

Hi Boaby, shame about your pitch, the wardens are a bit inflexible to say the least! We were lucky this year and were also lucky at Findechty again front row watching the ducks! have a great trip ,the weather can make all the difference!  Regards      Paul

Hope some of your luck rubs of on me Paul, we are booked for 5 days at Findechty and then down to Stonehaven for the weekend, carn't keep away from that pool, never been in a heated sea water pool before
The only time I've been in sea water that temperature was in The Canary Islands.

Regarding un- flexible wardens, a relief warden has let 2 VWS vans pitch parallel to the beach and erect sun canopies , no view at all to one side.
Weather still sunny and hot, albeit windy.

Hi Paul
We had five sunny warm days on pitch 36 ,next to the entrance , did you have a meal in the Admirals bar? We had a beer on the first day and decided against trying the menu.
Really friendly locals in the village with some great coastal walks each side of the village, the wife used the local shops and post office,  that's  where we discovered the "softies "

Hi Boaby, I think we were on pitch 39 just along from you on the front row, lovely view straight out to sea! We did go to the "admirals" for sunday lunch and it was disappointing to say the least! The food ,roast beef served on cold plates was mostly from the freezer, the only thing we thought might have been cooked fresh was the beef but we weren't 100%sure about that!Dessert wasn't much better ,I had sticky toffee pud which came with ice cream, strawberry ice cream!! And to say the service was slow would have been a compliment! So you certainly did make the right decision there. But other than that we had  a really good 3 days there , certainly away from it all!!!But missed the softies in the shop!Did you by pass Whitby or is that your next trip? Off to the Forrest of dean tomorrow, then onto Wales .                 Kind Regards         Paul

Hi Paul
Decided to head home from Durham as the weather forecast was not looking good over the weekend.
Our favourite site was fully booked anyway, so happy enough to get home and defrost the fridge .
Have a great safe trip Paul

Hi Boaby,  is that Whitby holiday park at Saltwick bay? Surprised it was full, but having said that sites are generally much busier than in previous years, tried to book in July our fav site in St Ives for our last trip of the season  in Oct , only  2 pitches to choose from!!  Regards    Paul

How did you guess Paul, we have our favour pitch parallel with the cliff, with views down on the bay, the pitches behind have no views and too close together .
The forecasters reckon the weather should improve mid week, so might go up to Filey for the day. The vans almost empty and I told feel like loading it up gain.
