My Winter Project

Post by davtherav on Fri Aug 12, 2016 9:39 pm

Here is the poor dejected lady, she's been laid up for some years with nowhere to go. I'm going to give her a good refurbishment and bring her back to a lovely looking girl again!

Great pic, it's always good IMHO to start with a 'before' picture, so that you can sit back in awe when you compare it with the finished project.

I'll bet that it wont take too much effort to make the monocoque shell start to look good again.

Hi Dave
Hope you have somewhere under cover this winter to start on your project, keep us all up to date with photos if you can.
Have you started in yet? Had a road test?

No road test, leaking heater control unit! Awkward little devil to get to as well, I've not come across the type of hose clamp either, can't figure out how to loosen them, can't locate any pics on internet either.
I'll get there eventually!

No, no cover, just on the secure compound. Vehicle has been sorn'd, I'll just have to pick my days, hope for another mild winter.

They are probably single use ones and you'll have to destroy them to remove. Replace with Jubilee type, make for an easier life in future.
[In fact, by sod's law, if you make them easy to remove, you'll never have to take them off again  biggrin ]

Thanks for this, but it's not there, I'll just have to cut them off and renew.

Hi there,
Coming along fine thanks. She's been given a really good wash with Fenwick's caravan cleaner, magic stuff, got rid of all the green algae, then I washed with Auto Glym shampoo conditioner, I still have to polish and wax though. She looks really smart now.
I've been cleaning inside, done the toilet/shower room, removed the oven and deep cleaned it and the enclosure too.
Today I removed the omnivent extractor by the kitchen, cleaned all the old sealant from the roof, stripped down the vent and cleaned it, removed the wood surround in the roof, it needs renewing. I'm going to renew the insulation in the roof at the back too, 'cos it's wet.
So yes stuff is coming along nicely and I'm pleased with the results.
I'm going to go to the show in Birmingham next Wednesday, should be a good day.

Not going in the m/h she's SORN'd. I've not got stuck into the mechanical side of things yet, I don't envisage getting on the road 'till spring next year. I'll try and get some photos done soon.
