French Trip Empty French Trip

wave Whilst in France last week we played spot the Autosleeper. An old Talbot based clubman  on site and a nice T25 VW no owners about to speak to. A few whilst wandering about, vans and coach builds not one waved back. Lots of Dutch and French waved politely.
Waiting for the ferry at Dunkirk a Rienza passed us whist waiting to board, I thought they were fairly thin on the ground.
On the run home we passed and were passed by quite a few Autosleepers including a VW Clubman with more stuff hanging on the back than we carry in our van. I was doing 70mph at the time according to the garmin  censored! .
I know we have a lesser know van but I started to feel daft waving at people and getting no response. so_sad

We will wave to you if we see you, we always wave! I once waved at a tesco van by mistake, needless to say he looked a bit surprised....

I always wave, and most also waved last year , but have noticed this year quite a few are not waving,

Is it something I`ve said,  shrugg   ah well those that do wave make up for those that don`t.

Perhaps are new to motor homing and don`t know about waving.

We arrived in France at 2 am this morning in our 95 transit autosleeper
19 hours stuck on the M20, 5 miles from Dover then 1048 km down to Toulouse
I only bought it on Thursday so was a bit anxious
We're driving down to Biarritz and San Sebastián for the week

Wow DjNeil, we thought we had it bad two years ago when we were stuck on the approach to the Dartford Crossing for 3 hours! Hope you don't have the same problems returning from Spain to France.
We love Biarritz by the way, been there three times.

We get about 50% response to waves......some drivers seem to be on autopilot and are staring straight ahead, but do they 'see'.......?

We always wave, most respond, but seldom Hymer owners. Must be a class thing, HD riders rarely acknowledge a nod when out on my bike.. But then I never expect them to..

Hi, we always wave! Presently in France and, as AndyPK notes, we seem to get about 50% responses! There doesn't seem to be any correlation regarding nationality/plates and it's always great to get a reply!! Keep on waving!!

:had_idea:We are going to be in the Suffolk and Norfolk area after Flying Proms in Biggleswade next month . I am going to keep a log of vans I spot and note the ones that don't wave back. A special note will be made of any wearing the Forum badge. Management recons it will be like collecting car numbers when we were kids. Some of us just don't grow up do we. lol4
