Clubman and swivel seats?

Post by mobileone on Tue Jul 19, 2016 8:32 pm

Can anyone tell me whether it is feasible to fit a swivel seat mechanism to the passenger seat of a VW Clubman 2003 T4?

It depends if you want to use the extra length of the single beds, if you do, then you need to make sure that the swivel will not interfere with the ' extension ' piece formed by the armrest. If you only use the across the vehicle double bed then I cant see a problem.

Lots of people fit swivels to T4's. You do need to check that the swivel doesn't raise the seat height too much for the passenger to access the seat, so you may need to buy a new lower base as well. Also worth bearing in mind, as you swivel the seat you reduce the walk through gap, so the gear lever and the handbrake are more likely to be in the way, what you gain in mobility one way you loose in another. Fwiw, my wife has dodgy knees so we considered a swivel to make things easier but decided it wouldn't.

Yes ,     I fitted one to the passenger seat, on my  2003 T4,  a swivel on a lower seat base , which made it the same height as the drivers seat. didn`t  interfere when using as single bed, unfortunately as the seat  wouldn`t go right round to face the rear and the leg room was tight, it  hit the settee base, although I put seat  back towards windscreen as far as it would go, I have taken it out and gone back to a fixed seat, good idea in theory.

Mine came with a swivel seat on the passenger side.
Toying with the idea of changing it for a fixed one.

Both mine swivel, haven't found the need to use them yet, can't really see the need for them as there isn't enough space to use them effectively IMHO.      scratch head

If you have the double bed up then having the seats sideways with the backs to the doors gives you a more spacious area.
