Thinking of buying a Mezan.......

Post by AndyPK on Fri Jul 08, 2016 7:29 pm

Our 'day-car', Honda HRV, is getting a bit long in the tooth and expensive to keep going, so I was thinking about getting rid of it and investing in a Mezan. I haven't seen many about and wonder if it's because they have 'issues' - the reviews I've read seem to say that they are good, but underpowered unless the 2.0l tdi engine is in place. I would keep the Clubman for longer trips, but use the Mezan for shorter excursions and daily use. Any thoughts/comments greatfully received!
Cheers

Is the headroom limited all through the 'van then? I was hoping to get a fixed roof rather than a pop-top........

I was thinking more of the bed size.

I've never examined one closely, but I would want to check that out before getting too enthusiastic. This somewhat naff video might be interesting, but no bed sizes are given.

This thread on another forum might also be of interest. At one point Grizzly mentions "making the beds long enough" but it doesn't seem to be easy.

The member Detector slags it off with a vengeance, but he only made two posts so we probably know what that means. Most others seem to be delighted with it.

Maybe you should think of a Romahome instead?? Seems the Mezan is a copy, and might not be as good as the original?

Hope this helps

Hi Andy,

Just noticed your post and thought I'd comment in case you are still considering.

We have a Mezan and it is not really suitable for taller people.  I am 5 foot 6 and I only just fit into the bed area.  Any taller and you would have to extend your feet past the end of the bed in the middle between the units.  That may work for one person but probably not for two.

As for standing up in the van, I can stand up fine in the kitchen area with its lower floor and in the central section where the main roof hatch is, but I have to slightly stoop outside of these areas.

Regards,
Ian
