Damaged my stabiliser..rear steadie

Post by Firms on Tue Jun 21, 2016 10:06 am

There we are in Rutland and Bertha is slowly sinking into the grass. Not wishing to get stuck for a third time I decide to move the van forwards slightly. I don't raise one steadie quite far enough (lazy) and it hits the grass pulls it out of it's socket and digs a nice furrow! Have effected temporary repair but it won't now wind down..think it's bent. I can get a new one from AS for £50. Has anyone replaced theirs ....is it a fairly straightforward job to do.

The good news is we didn't get stuck...beautiful site though at Lyndon Top overlooking Rutland water ....bargain at £7 per night! No hardstanding or facilities but highly recommended for location alone

Hi Simon

What a shame - I took a pair of steadies to the tip only a month ago. They had to come off when we had a towbar fitted, and I tried to give them away but nobody wanted them, so eventually dumped them. You could have had them for nowt!

If your van is similar to ours, they just bolt on so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Dave smile!

P.S. Why not phone your dealer. He might have taken some off for the same reason as ours. You might get a new one for a tenner in the staff biscuit fund. up!

To prevent sinking, with or without levelling ramps, we use these:

They are also useful on hard standing or gravel to stop the ramps shooting out when driving up on to them.
