Site close to Henley on Thames

Post by micknhilary on Mon Jun 06, 2016 7:40 am

Our travel plans which were due to start on Wednesday this week have had to be put, on hold so I am looking for an alternative.
Does anyone  have a recommendation for a site  close to  Henley. Must have hookup and ideally be in  close proximity to the bus service into Henley.
Many Thanks.

I've stayed on Henley Four Oaks Caravan Club site. You need to be a CC member. Small site but everything there. Not sure about a bus as didn't use one but would think there is. Give them a ring 01491 572312.
There is another site nearly next door called Swiss Farm but much larger with swimming pool, café etc.
Both are in walking to Henley. (less than a mile)

We stayed at the Swiss Farm site. It suited us well although they insist on "nice" vans. Obviously not a problem with an Autosleeper.  Ours wasn't an AS at the time so I had to sneak in.

We walked in to town but the bus stop is very close to the gate.

We had 4 lovely days  at the four oaks site in April, very close to Henley, I think the wife paid £6 for a taxi to town, one way. Swiss farm is closer by about 500 yards.

Hi Mick
Take a couple of bird feeders with you, there's lots of wee birds like Nuthatches and long tail * Inappropriate Word * buzzing about the trees, we pitched up on the top side of the site to avoid any road noise which was not to bad.
There's a Tesco superstore on the Reading road to the west of Henley and a Sainburys in Marrow with a vey small park.
Have a nice time in Henley, also a nice site in Hurley near Henley, called Riverside park, right on the river bank.

We stayed at Four Oaks for a night the week before last. Unbeknown to us it was the Henley Festival week. Elton John was on the night before and Elvis Costello the night we stayed, all you had to do was go to the river bank to listen - we didn't as we'd driven from France that day.

There is a phenomenal hardware shop in Henley, Robert Dyas - I could spend my pension in it but made do with a new travel iron and some bin bags.
