Quite often on older systems if you try to run the system with a flat battery it will blow a fuse, because the dead battery takes too much current initially. Occasionally if the charger/power supply is a bit old and fragile it will blow the power supply internals. Hopefully it's nothing more than a fuse...

You might be right, although on a 1990 van it would be a bit unusual. A/S went through a period where a charger was optional (we didn't have one on our early 80's van - only a split charge) but by 1990 I would have thought most did.

If fitted, it's often hidden, either under a bench seat or under a false floor in the bottom of a cupboard or wardrobe.

Nice van the Harmony.......Is it the one with a shower curtain that comes out of the floor in the middle of aisle at the rear end near the back doors ?  I think I would remove the batteries, and recharge them indoors, if they are flat for the first time.      up!
Oops !! Sorry....just read that you are buying a new one (battery) if you can find how it all works.  scratch head

I have a 1991 Harmony on a Fiat Ducato High top. Mine didnt have a mains charger either and they were listed as an option. I have recently bought the correct Zig charging unit off Ebay and mounted it in the narrow locker under the crockery cupboard.....Works a treat.
