Camping Marjal Costa Blanca

Post by Dutto on Tue Nov 15, 2011 11:39 pm

Hi there,

It is HUGE with 1,470 pitches!

It is also brand new (officially opens on 1st December) with state of the art facilities like Cable TV, Wi-fi and sink drains to every pitch.

Thoroughly recommend.

Hi there,

We came back before Christmas, are here until mid-February and have booked for three months this next winter!

Now that everything is up and running there is only one description for the place and that is "Incredible!"

On first look it isn't a cheap place to stay but when you start adding up the facilities it slowly starts to look like a better deal. The Spa, Pool, Gym, Bar and Restaurant facilities of a Country Club at this level of opulence would cost between £1,000 and £2,500 a year in the UK.

If I tell you that there are medical and veterinary services on site you probably won't be surprised; but how about the fact that there is even a bathroom for you to wash your dog or cat!!!!

I am not very experienced in these matters but everyone I have talked to here on site agree that it is truly superb.

Best regards (and be assured I have no vested interest in posting this recommendation - unfortunately!),

PS Signing off as exhausted. Cycled to Aldi for groceries, hour in the gym, ten lengths in the pool, half an hour in the Massage Spa then fifteen minutes each in the Sauna and Steam Rooms (with intermediate dips into the 10 degree plunge pool). It's a hard life but somebody has to do it!! lol4 hugegrins wave champagne blushes

Thanks for the report Dutto, we arrive at Marjal early March and will be there for a month.
It's good to know that all is up and running as it should. It sounds fabulous, we are really
looking forward to our trip.

Brisey,

I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

One tip - if available choose a corner plot near the toilets (A132 is shaded by a big tree so it gives some protection from the heat); and they will let you book it on-line.

Also:

1). If you have 10 metres of waste pipe, you can plumb the van sink and shower waste directly into the drains as there is access on each plot.

2). Bring 10 metres of co-axial cable with male/female ends as cable TV (BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 and ITV2) is available on each plot.

3). Your own private water point is also there if you have "plug in" water facilities.

Enjoy! Some great cycle runs in the area.

Best regards,

Ian

Hi Ian, thanks for the heads up regarding the TV and waste water facilities.
We are attending a rally at Marjal with members of another forum, I presume
that our pitches will be allocated so that we are all together rather than
chosen individually. Glad to hear that there are some good cycle rides as we
are bringing bikes with us. We arrive at Santander 3rd March and will travel
to Marjal via Aranjuez where we will stop for two nights, will be at Marjal on
March 5th. If you are still there we will try to say hello.

Brisey, a quick PS:

1). For the Gym you will need trainers and a towel.

2). For the Spa and Pool you will need flip-flops and a swimming hat.

They are not "daft rules" (I once saw the filter on a Jacuzzi being changed and it looked like a cylinder of chip-fat rolled around the floor of a Barber Shop!) and one of the really good rules is that kids aren't allowed into the Spa or Gym!! allthumbz allthumbz allthumbz

Oh, and if you don't just walk straight into the plunge pool and submerge completely you are what is known up North as "A complete Jessie"!!! hugegrins hugegrins hugegrins

A PPS!!

Because the bushes between the plots have yet to grow, and the plots are covered in fine gravel, you might also like to bring a windbreak (with plenty of pegs due to poor holding of fine gravel) and a large groundsheet ('cos fine gravel gets trapped in every nook and cranny of trainers and cycling shoes).

Tony,

You have to be here to believe it!!

I used to be a member of the Craigendarroch Country Club near Ballater (which is where Princess Di used to go to get away from her in-laws when she stayed at Balmoral) and compared to this site I was "slumming it"!!

Check out the web-site! I'm the good looking one with the body to die for! wave wave

Hi there,

This is really to test if I can send a photo to the Forum.

I have chosen a photograph of the pet washing facility here on site! wave wave

Camping Marjal Costa Blanca

Post by Dutto on Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:05 pm

Hi there,

I have put this on a separate thread just in case the contents are construed as a "vested interest" in my recommendation of the site.

Back on January 2nd the awning of a caravan parked at the back of us was lifted by a strong wind and thrown over the caravan. It carried an awning pole with it and the pole punched a hole in the top window of "Petal". (See my "Happy New Year" of the same day!)

Auto Sleepers reckon that this will cost £450 to replace and, with an additional £50 in diesel to get to Newark, we are looking at a bill for £500 to repair the damage!

There was a lot of "not my fault" from the Spanish owner of the caravan so, due to the language barrier, I took the problem to the Manager of the site; who promised to sort it out.

The Manager has now decided that, as the innocent party, we shouldn't suffer so he has:
A) Waived the £200 that we will owe in site fees when we leave tomorrow, and,
B) Credited our account with £300 towards our next visit (already booked) in November.

I have to say that, as it is not the responsibility of the site to ensure that people properly anchor their awnings, I consider the Manager's actions to be more than fair; and reinforces my original recommendation!

Best regards,

drinksallround

Hi Dutto, all is well here at Marjal, we are with the MotorhomeFun Rally and all are having a great time. The site is getting busier especially at the weekend when the Spaniards arrive. The facilities are superb, shower blocks are great and are kept spotlessly clean. As part of our deal we also have free use of the Spa and the Gym. The weather has been good as well clear blue skies and temperature up in the 70's every day so far. The site is still being developed and this time next year may be a completely different proposition, but many people here have already booked for next winter and some have even booked their pitch for long term stays of a year or more. We will be here until after the Easter holiday and will then move on, in the meantime we are very happy to stay here at a rate of 11 euros a night all inclusive.
