Revenue weight, mass laden weight

Post by stylist47 on Tue Apr 26, 2016 10:47 am

I am totally confused as to what figure I should be giving to Red Pennant Insurance when they ask me for the mass laden weight of my 1998 Topaz.  On my registration certificate the revenue weight is noted at 2700kg gross.  On the plate inside the bonnet the top two figures are 2700 kg and then underneath it 4500 kg.  What do these two figures relate to and which figure should I be giving to the insurers when they ask for the fully laden weight?  I am totally confused how you can tell the insurers when you take out the insurance before you load the campervan how much the laden weight is.  We are leaving Monday morning early and I'm packing the van up on Sunday when our local weighbridge is not open.

2700kg is the maximum vehicle laden weight. 4500kg is the max train weight, ie your maximum braked trailer weight is 1800kg. So 2700 kg is the weight you need for Red Pennant.
