Habitation Door Lock

Post by gbs100 on Sun Apr 10, 2016 5:18 pm

Hello

Has anyone replaced the original door lock on a Gatcombe, if so what with?

Will a Caraloc 700 etc replacement lock fit.

Sorry if this has done the rounds before , but I can't find anything in the forum.

The original is a classic BL item i believe from the likes of an old Range Rover or Morris marina or Austin allegro. Or Lotus esprit see here

Yes it was the old BLeyland door lock. On our 2000 Gatcombe it split on the lever opening piece. I contacted A Sleeper , they gave me Cheltenham Laminating Co. Ltd. Tel. 01452 713098. Very helpful, sent them cheque for £5 they sent new lock by return. Bit fiddly to fit but doable.
Good luck. George

Habitation Door Lock

Post by gbs100 on Sun Apr 10, 2016 7:56 pm

Hello Mike

Thanks for the reply, I was aware that the locks were used on marinas and some other  BL models.
Guess a trip to car breakers is on the cards - or a secondary lock system to provide stronger security.

Unless anyone knows differently.

Whilst I was typing the above, George sent another reply - thanks George also.

I believe they were also off early Discoveries.

Hi Geoff, I should have added that Cheltenham Laminate supplied the original locks to AS.
