spot the person who doesn't know his way....

Post by shawgough on Tue Mar 22, 2016 8:14 pm

.... Round his Autosleeper.

The latest thing is that there's no water coming through our taps. I can hear the pump working as it should, but from the taps - zilch, nada, nothing.

The tank ran dry earlier and I filled it up pretty quickly and violently with a funnel and some 5l bottles so is it possible there's an air bubble in the system somewhere? If so, how do I release that?

Also, although I know there's water in the tank - approx 15l - the tank meter is showing zero.

Any suggestions?

Might be an idea to fill it, then see how the gauge is, is the hot water tank full? if you search on here there are lots of info on air in the water system and how to resolve.
Good luck,
Regards,

Try this..

Turn on taps for sink, shower and hand basin. Fill water tank to the top. Turn off all taps and turn on water pump. Phew!!  Turn on hot water taps one at a time, when water comes out without spirting air turn each tap off……….repeat for cold water. Starting with the hot taps first ensures that any air is removed from the Carver water heater.

A more thorough method is now a 'factsheet' and can be found here..

Thanks both. I'll try method 2 first as I don't have any hose handy.

Ok, air bubble in water system solved. Problem with burner unit in the fridge classified as unfixable (by me at least)... Next thing - the carver cascade water boiler.

We have a switch on the the wall with three lights and a rocker switch, AND a fuse switch with a red light next to the hob.

I have gleaned that that switch is the master switch for the boiler but what does the wall mounted switch do please?

It would be a good idea to update your profile so members know which A/S model you have, and its year of manufacture.

It could make quite a difference to the validity of the advice offered, since there are significant differences.

It certainly would but in the meantime the info is in the intro.

I don’t know the layout of the Harmony but the functionality should be similar to mine. Hopefully a Harmony owner will come along and confirm (or not) my assumptions.

If there’s a physical switch on the carver control unit it’s probably this version (the later version of the control unit only had press buttons:

My guess would be that the fused switch is for the electrical element. You can always check by switching on with the gas off and checking whether the water heats up.

Fair enough Brod, but are members likely to go searching for his intro to try and find out what van he has??

I'm always willing to help if I can (to pay back for all the help I've had, if for no other reason!) but it only makes sense for the questioner to make it easy for the potential helper.

I totally agree (I wasn't criticising), but I probably didn't word my reply very well. think_smiley_46

No worries Brod. I wasn't throwing a strop either! drinksallround

Just making the point in case it hadn't occurred to the OP.

Oh, so this is a dual gas/electric model is it? Sorry about all the questions but the guy we bought it off inherited from his aunty and knew nothing about it at all, so we didn't get a proper handover.
