Castlerigg Hall Keswick.

Post by Canoman1 on Mon Mar 14, 2016 3:40 am

Called here on the spur while we were in the Lakes last week, we were surprised how busy it was considering it had just reopened for the season ( 2 days earlier)

The site is on multiple levels, pitches are spacious, ours was fully serviced and many have lake views (superior pitch - £ a bit extra)

The staff were great, friendly and wanting to ensure you enjoy your stay.
We ate in the on site Bar, this is bistro like and the food was perfectly acceptable, again the staff were great.

The shower blocks are modern, clean and warm.

All in all a great site and one we will be going back to this year.

It was always our favourite site in the lakes. The pub at the entrance used to do decent meals but it had gone downhill the last time I was there.

We were there in late July and had a great stay, even our walk on the hottest day of the year  up! It seems like the pub was under new management so the food (so I'm told) was much improved on previous years. We walked from the site every day, can be a bit of a trek back up the hill from Keswick which is why quite a few folk arrived back in taxis. There is a bus service about 500m from the site entrance, I did spot a few MHs using the car park behind the new theatre though.

Yes, it's a good, well run site but not cheap. You can book on line and there's an interactive map of the site and facilities. The pitches with good views are more expensive and some, lower down the site, are a bit of a trek to the toilets.
