Who says. Seems a very strange way to me to estimate average annual depreciation.

Doubt if I could buy a 1 month old van for 17% of new price. ???????????

I think we will have to agree to disagree on the sensible way to judge depreciation on one's purchases.

I never said it was sensible. I only judge on "do I want to pay that much". (usually the answer is no.)

because that is how much you lose when you convert a new van to a used one by driving it off the forecourt.

That is a dealer's tale. Look at the VAT rules for used vehicle sales. There are two bases available to the dealer, the one he uses to justify the immediate loss of VAT and the margin basis shjch he actually uses!

Ours has been on order since February, rang Auto-sleeper and there is a delay of about two weeks for ours so we may have ours registered in September.
