Campsite with nearby cinema?

Post by ssjohnl on Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:19 pm

With the longer evenings, I thought I wouldn't mind visiting a site where I could go to the cinema for an early evening showing. Of the few places I looked at, I couldn't find one (Midlands area) where either the cinema was nearby or there was a bus service running between cinema and campsite after about 6 o'clock. I thought I'd like to return around 8pm.
Any ideas of suitable campsites appreciated - or I may have to resort to a taxi!

Woodhall Spa site (if you are C&CC member) comes to mind with the Kinema-in-the-Woods. It's a fabulous old cinema with a rising organ played in the interval but plays latest films.

Oxford C&CC site.  P&R over the road with  buses to take you to the town centre.

There are a couple listed for Warwick, but maybe on the opposite end of town to the racecourse park, as they're technically listed as in Leamington Spa (which has merged in to Warwick itself).
Maybe a half hours walk and not sure about evening buses.

Uttoxeter Racecourse is about 20 mins walk to the cinema/bowling alley/ice rink. Unfortunately it closes for the winter on 23rd November

Hi
We stayed at Woodhall Spa country park site last weekend. Excellent site, very clean and underfloor heating in the showers...welcome this last weekend as it was below zero...icicles on the van!

A short walk through the woods or down the road takes you to Woodall Spa and Kinema in the woods. We didn't visit but we did visit the excellent tea room next door...roaring coal fire! Also went for a very long walk in very cold weather up a disused railway line which can take you all the way to Lincoln.

Overall a very good place to visit at this time of year

Hi there,

Anywhere in Skegness or Ingoldmels will do.

Regular bus service up to 10pm around the town and along the coast.

Tower Cinema in the centre of town (near the Clock Tower) and The Embassy Theatre ...

... 75 metres away along the sea-front ... (How about hissing and booing at the Evil Queen in Snow White?) ...

... and this CC affiliated site is open most of the year ...

Enjoy. allthumbz

Best regards,

PS

Only 131 miles via Lincoln which has a Christmas Market with a Park & Ride as per ...

... from 3rd to 6th December.

Closes 30th November ...re-opens March 1st.

Last weekend this weekend...be quick!

If your drive takes you via Spalding visit the  Baytree Owl and wildlife centre...fantastic place at only £3 per adult to visit. Good place for lunch as well.

We are really starting to enjoy this motorhoming lark!
