Hi all.

We are Hymer owners. Ours is 21 years old and 7 meters long. We are still working so this age of vehicle is more economic, although we have got quite a lot of use out of it over the last 18 months. We have spent a long time weighing up, comparing, being realistic about a more modern van in the future (fully retired) we have gone through the range of nearly all types. Recently we had moved from a fixed bed 7.4m Modern Hymer - down to a VW T5 camper. Having a week in Devon bought home the inconvenience a large van can be when it comes to getting out and about. We Trailer a motorcycle so are never stuck. Even though weather was mostly excellent, on colder days a more car like vehicle would have been lovely. So, I'll get to the point and mention the AS Neuvo. With the following logic. Fixed beds are a use of much needed space, 6.5m + is hard to park, the latest Nuevo has additional under floor storage and under slung gas. I am just up the road from the AS factory and why buy European, when it can be such a pain. It appears to have every thing my Hymer has, just slightly more compact with the absence of a second lounge. I know there are many owners of these, I wonder If there any good reasons NOT to buy, generally I am after a picture of what owners think of them. I am especially interested in build quality and agility. I didn't get them when I first saw them in abundance at 'Broadway Camp site' but with careful consideration they are starting to make sense. We share your love of freedom and adventure. Hope you can assist.

Hello and asof_welcome2 from Leicestershire sorry cannot help with the Neuvo, but I love my Auto-sleeper  Anniversary Clubman with the VW  base, I don`t think you can beat the Auto-sleeper build.good luck

Hi Warthog and a big welcome to the forum. I can't help with the Neuvo but my Winchcombe which is 7 meters + does all the travelling I would do with a smaller van. I can normally sneeze it into most places and drive it around like a car so agility is good. I even squeezed into and turned round in a tiny National Trust woodland car park at the weekend (with much squealing from the passenger seat satnav hugegrins ) Build quality is really top notch; yes there have been warranty issues but primarily with the third party add ons and all quickly sorted by the excellent AS service centre. So, highly recommended up!
As a fellow camper remarked at a rally (of all makes) we were on this weekend about AS:  'proper posh they are' look here

Hi 1959.   I like that year!!

As to your choice of motor-home. A/S new have many problems,so if you buy new its good to live next to the factory.   hugegrins
Older models have been very good and have many good views on this site.

However its like life ,you do need to do your home work  before signing on the dotted line.

All the best with your research.

Well this is part of my homework Micky but valid specifics are important if I'm to get a true picture. Surely something that sells for £50,000 plus can't have that many problems. There not built in China.

Thats right they are not built in China. However i have been unable to see what QC system  A/S use.  Maybe China built M /H would be fault free.
All I am saying  is be careful, don't assume.

Read everything you can about the model / s you are interested in then make your choice, consensus opinion best to buy a van 2-3 years old when problems have been ironed out. at the end of the day you make your choice and pay yours money.

Good luck and happy hunting .

I don't think buying new is a problem and it obviously has many advantages. You just have to be aware there are the odd niggles to sort out and at least with AS they do get sorted and quickly. And of course you know what care and attention has been given to your pride and joy. Pre owned 'can' suffer from hidden disasters which 'dealers' are hesitant to rectify. Swings and roundabouts.
