The NEC : Merc Whee, Fairford & Caravan

Post by Peter Brown on Wed Oct 14, 2015 10:25 am

Yesterday at the NEC

All bar one of the Mercs had controls on the steering wheel, I asked if the were now standard and was told yes for builds from now - but if you don't get one, don't shoot the messenger.

The new Fairford

From the side door, dinette with two belted passenger seats can be made into two beds.

Rear lounge converts into two more beds.  This could be left made up as a fixed bed if you choose.

Super Design

and finally (not on the AS stand)

A caravan made and fitted out inside all from LEGO.

We were at the NEC today, saw the new Fairford, looks good. I think it is a four berth, However, we and others noticed it doesn't seem to have a wardrobe of any description! Where do I store my Tuxedo?

I also noted that AS now have a new Hartal Exterior door which incorporates a sliding door fly-screen. Hurrah!!
Alas, I don't think it is possible to retro fit to current coach-builds as it looks like it requires a special "entrance step well surround" to accommodate the screen and this I believe would be a major modification to existing vans.
We liked the new upholstery!

The gas stay on the door is also new, but can't be retro fitted to replace the crappy ones on slightly older AS models as it is, as you say, a new door, with a different designed top!
