Plywood in back rests in Executive

Post by Alphadee on Sun Sep 06, 2015 8:04 pm

Has anyone removed the plywood from the backrests in their Executive? I don't mean just the little folding flap, I mean the whole thing. It just occurred to me that the backrest cushions would be an awful lot lighter to move around when making up the double bed without the plywood.

Surely they would lose the support and give over time and then not be comfortable to sleep on, just a thought, I only use as single anyway

Yes I did when we had an Executive.  They are there so you can angle the rear cushion.  Cant remember why I removed them but we had the van 8 years and it didnt affect the seat/bed in any way

Thanks Roger. I actually meant the whole plywood back from inside the cushion cover, not just the flap for angling the seat back.

Why don't you try it ?  If it doesn't work satisfactorily without the plywood, presumably it will go back in !
