Dear All
I have just started looking at Auto Sleeper van and have come to the conclusion that an older (around 2000) Symbol or Symphony would be ideal.  I have looked on numerous web site and can't find any pictures of how the double bed sets up.  I also haven't yet worked out the difference between the 2 models.  If anyone has any info or links to pictures or videos I would be really grateful.

Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen and welcome to the forum from Leicestershire wave.

If you look at the websites for Symbols you often find pictures showing the layout of the beds, for example http://motorhomes.autotrader.co.uk/used-motorhomes/auto-sleepers/symbol/1999-auto-sleepers-symbol-petrol-southampton-mfpa-8aca82444dbd72db014e157944900882/makemodel/make/auto-sleepers/model/symbol shows at least one picture of the double bed. Hope this helps ... Jeff.

The only differences between Symbol and Symphony is three rings on the hob on the Symbol, two rings on the Symphony. Different worktops and taps but that's just age differences, the Symphony being the older model although both were produced together for a short while. The Symbol also has a Heki rooflight providing much more light inside.

Hi,
To set up the beds we pull out the large settee as far as it will go and then the single seat pulls out to fill the remaining gap. This gives you a bed which fills the space between the front seats and the wardrobe. I am 5.10. And can sleep comfortably across the van and all the other cushions can be left at home. I believe you can push the front seats forward and use the various infill cushions to give two single beds or a longer double but as I say you have to store all the infill bits. The symphony became a symbol about 1999, not a lot of difference, different cooker and water heater I think, earlier ones may not have the large heki rooflight, some had a lift up wooden cover over the cooker and sink, later had a glass cover over the cooker. Interior fabrics changed quite a lot, mine is green which I like, some are swirly etc. Vans basically unchanged until a facelift around 2003 and a model change a couple of years later. Later vans only have two doors on the upper kitchen cupboards instead of four which is awkward. Diesels can be a bit sluggish and noisy, give about 30mpg petrol give about 23mpg and are quieter with more go, petrol is exempt from the london emissions zone butcheck they are running smoothly. All can suffer from water ingress into the gearbox which is cured by fitting a left hand drive drain hose,
Good luck,
Chris

Dear All
thank you very much for the helpful responses and for the link to the pics - I have been trawling for hours without success.

I have also found some links to the Harmony too so now there's more to choose from.  Our main restriction is width as we don't have a very wide drive, hence the preference for the older models.

Thanks for the nice welcome messages.

Karen.

Yes the Harmony can be a good choice for some with two rear seats but the Harmony has no oven and is about 4 or 5 inches shorter than the other two.
