duckboard in shower

Post by murph on Sun Oct 09, 2011 10:37 am

Roli has asked me to keep sending in possible mods so here is another. I have heard of quite a few shower trays cracking, this would apply particularly if you have to stand in the shower tray to use the toilet. I built a duckboard to spread the weight. As the shower tray in the mk1 lancashire/nuevo is a very complicated shape I used the mat supplied as a template turned it upside down on the drive, drew round it with chalk and built the duckboard to this shape from 1 1/2 x 1/2 batten using brass screws so that they do not rust. One mistake I made was to leave 3/4inch bettween the battens, 1/2 inch or less would be more comfortable on the feet when using the shower.

Murph... I also would be interested in seeing photos of this? I can understand how the duckboard would spread the weight out, but not thoroughly convinced that the battens over time would not create their own problem?
