how do i remove a big sheet of ply

Post by jeffo on Wed Jun 17, 2015 9:00 am

My CF clubman sv100 has a permanent bed above the cab. It has some rust where the fibre glass joins the roof of the cab. I want to deal with this rust properly but I cant get at it. I am assuming I need to get behind it but with the mattress out I am faced with a massive ply sheet that seems to be permanent. I see no screws or mountings. How do I get it out? There is also a pair of cubby holes beside the bed at the very front of the body overhanging the windsceen. They should be forward of the problem but do they have to come out to remove the ply?
I have a nasty feeling that the only way to physically remove it when its free is going to involve removing the bed compartment surround and the blooming wardrobe too. Is this wood bonded in and irremovable? How does the body attach to the roof of my cf? Can I create a gap to dig rust out?

Have you tried contacting Auto sleeper's direct, not done so myself but read many have got their answers from them.
I suspect it will have been used  in the building process if it is anything like a boat construction of that period.

I have had a slight alleluia moment!
I have started to remove the headlining in the cab. I have got to the back of the rust but its looking almost impossible to access with anything other than my finger tips. I think I will have to remove an entire section of the windscreen body panel and then weld it all back in, just to create space.
