Re: status ariel
I can see no difference on the online spec sheets for these aerials, the 'digital label is not significant - all aerials are analog (other posts on this).
The most important factor is the correct positioning of the outfit.

Hi
Many people say omni directional aerials are rubbish. I’d be a bit more kind and say that they are the best you’re going to get if you don’t want to adjust the aerial every time you stop but there is a massive price to pay in terms of gain ( sensitivity). That said if you always stay close to large(ish) towns where there is plenty of signal an omni directional be fine.
If you want to upgrade go for a directional aerial. It'll be certainly be better but you'll have to adjust it every time and you have to be practical and accept that there will still be places where there is little or no signal.
Have you thought about a cheap satellite kit?

My advice would be “don’t waste your money.” Changing an omni directional for another omni directional doesn’t make sense.ginner38 wrote:thinking about upgrading my STATUS 315 to a 330

Thats what I use Boaby we have our tv hinged from the over cab bed so we just put the ariel on the over bed and like you a first class reception. But as you will know you need to have a tv that sends a current back down the ariel cable.

No I dont think you can fix it permanently on the roof but give them a call they could have another product that can.I have had lots of different ariels and all of them are a pain but these are trouble free.

Hi
The is always a trade of between performance and convienence. Everyone will have a diffent view about how much setting up they are prepared to do. Before you decide what type of aerial is right for you have a read of this:
http://www.aerialsandtv.com/touringaerials.html
It's been mentioned before on the forum and it gives an excellent little primer on the differences between types of aerial.

Yes your right, we have a four year old W 153D 15 inch screen, the aerial is receiving English and Scottish border programmes here in Powfoot.

Sorry I didn't notice your post until this morning, the aerial kit comes with a rubber neck to attach the aerial, this has a suction cup on the end of it, I have attached this to various vans in the past, you can release the suction cup if you need to remove the aerial.
My lorry had one of the 100 series aerials attached to the rear of the cab for a good while and it didn't drop off.

Re: status ariel
We've picked up a large number of BBC and commercial sites via our Avtex aerial on the following sites, Garlieston , NEB and here at the Culzean camping club site, the aerial pole is sticking out into a field and not on the bike rack, cheating maybe ? Not a sausage on the standard telco aerial.

Voted best terrestrial aerial in MMM some time ago was the Teleco Teleplus x2 and beat the status on performance

Re: status ariel
We have upgraded the T.V since last summer, we have a Avtex L187DRS, connected to a roof mounted Status 580, excellent reception from HD channels and vastly improved sound.
Avtex 3000 aerial is held as spare.
