Retro fit rear step?

Post by Pamponi on Sat May 09, 2015 7:30 am

Has anyone fitted a retractable step below the habitation door on a Clubman?

It's a pain having to carry around a Fiamma hop up in such a small van.

I wonder where you'd buy them?

Bet it could be done with a bit of creative tinkering.

Normally, due to the location of the exhaust pipe a separate step is used on the Clubman.  Not saying it cant be done though

For the reason I don`t like fitted steps, tread not wide enough and they flex when stepping on them so I feel safer on a separate step, can understand that it can be in the way sometimes when travelling, I put mine upside down just inside the door way when travelling, I believe some put theirs in the loo.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

I know I've often been accused of being "belt and braces" but I always carry a Fiamma step with me despite the Eton being fitted with a retractable step.

Like Daisy Mae I find the fitted step a bit narrow (possibly down to my size tens) and unsteady, the Fiamma step also comes in handy as a hop up when cleaning the van windows and windscreen and to sit on while enjoying my first Guinness of the day and surveying the scenery ahhh bliss. champagne

Cheers John up!

Cheers John up!
I miss that scene from our Symphony days except in my case it was sitting there first thing in the morning with my cup of tea.

There's a clubman on eBay at the moment with a retractable step!
