Post by may13 on Mon May 04, 2015 8:09 pm

HI all we have just got our first motorhome after years of having a caravan its good so far .we are looking to go to The Warren camp site at Folkestone soon ,have read some info that the access road to the site is rough going and very steep and the hedges down to the site can scratch your van .

 smile!

I was wondering if anyone had used this site and what is it like to get to.
we have a Autosleeper Orian medium size , hope someone can help.

Last time we stayed about three years ago we decided never to return!  It is a very pleasant site once you get there with great views to the sea but the access road is hell.  Very windy and an atrocious surface, large potholes all the way - most of it is actually for access to the adjacent railway and they (Network rail?) never seem to maintain it.  The site only allows motorhomes and tenters, not touring caravans because the road is so bad.

We are booked on the chunnel tomorrow and are currently at a local Caravan Club CL, Pages Farm, which is less than 10 minutes from the tunnel so would recommend that if you're CC members. We have also stayed at Capel Farm CL which is only a few minutes further away.

If you are only C&CC members, there are nearby CSs at Lyminge or else  Paddlesworth Court Farm but we haven't stayed there ourselves so can't give specific info on it.

Either way, we'd recommend giving the Warren a miss if you value your suspension and tyres!

cheers

Have to agree, the road down to that site is so bad I would never return.
