1990 renault Rapport

Post by Cit602 on Sun May 03, 2015 6:20 am

I have just purchased a 1990 Renault Trafic Rapport, 32000miles with full service history. I have yet to collect. Its been bought from a dealer. For some reason the Unit for the hob has gone and the fridge removed. I have a couple of questions,
1/ Is there anywhere I could get a matching unit made up, strangely the doors for the unit are in the cupboard.
2/ Of more importance, what model fridge was installed and is a new one easy to install.
 Any help greatly appreciated

Is the dealer a specialist motorhome dealer? If he is, can he not source the parts and sell you a motorhome that is complete?
Worth you looking at the RTMR (Renault Traffic Motorhome Register) look at the page on Autosleeper conversions and you may see the necessary parts you need to give you a guide what to look for when searching Ebay etc.

I wonder if the previouse owner's fridge became just a cool box? the reason I ask is its been a dilema of mine since I bought my 1987 Rapport 20 months ago. For a weekend away I feel I could get away with a cool box a pint of skimmed milk and a bag of Frozen peas

My dillema is now over, I had the 3 way fridge almost back in the van when lo & Bhold someone or something interupted, I was in town headed for poundland with my Mrs when she suggested we looked in the Heart Foundation shop next door (They both share the old WoolWorths shop) I couldnt belive my eyes (or my luck) a 40L Igloo cool / hot box complete with a mains / siggy lighter adaptor for £10, they now sitting an a 800 B&Q base unit with a camping stove one end and a mixing bowl sink at the other end of the worktop, I suppose its a bit of a fluke still calling my van an Autosleeper rapport because I did like another owner (Ford trident?) have to have extensive welding done but unlike the other owner I ripped the lot out before taking it to the body shop.

Sounds like a bargain, but be aware (if you're not already) that that type of Peltier-effect cool box typically has no thermostat, and so takes around 4 Amps, all of the time. So a typical leisure battery will not run one for a full 24 hours without running completely flat - which you obviously want to avoid! Fine if you're on electric hookup, but not for a weekend of wild camping unless you are running the engine for some considerable time to recharge each day...

WOW I knew they draw a bit of power but didnt realise it was that much, I am pleased it came with the mains power for sites and a call into a supermarket for a bag of ice at least I can make a brew from the melt water i suppose:allthumbz:
